I know that I have always had a slightly different perspective than most of my peers but I lacked the confidence or understanding to express these differences as effectively as he describes in his book. That said I know that in my own ways, and to the best of my ability, I have struggled across the years to give voice and body to these differences through my interactions with self and others. The main difference I perceive is the length of time it took me to understand how much I relied on the good opinion of others to give me a sense of self-worth and this reliance was a major obstacle in my journey to live more authentically. I am approaching 60 and only now beginning to express my perceptions openly. There is much in the world that holds little interest for me and the things that matter to me are inextricably linked to authentic interaction with others. A condition that permits people to more freely share their true thoughts and feelings rather than hiding behind what they believe others desire them to think and feel.
Trusting the divine nature of Unconditional Love is the key to living more authentically knowing that to the extent we attempt, to the best of our ability, to put our human consciousness in the intentional service of our unconditionally loving nature, we secure the means of maximizing the positive impact we have in our own life and the lives of everyone we touch. From this alignment we need not burden ourselves with knowing the precise form or scope of our daily activities because the orientation towards serving Unconditional Love is the assurance that, whatever the outcome, Unconditional Love will be expanded through the energy we bring to each person, event and situation we encounter throughout our day. When our deepest intention is to serve unconditional love this orientation promotes the most life-affirming potential. Regardless of the outcome our encounter with unconditional love expands within us into the world of form.
It is deeply gratifying and fulfilling to experience those moments when we are able to transcend the limitations of our human condition and connect with the world through the lens of serving Unconditional Love. There is an optimism and the hint of some, as yet, unrealized capability and opportunity that will continue to expand our experience of gratitude and abundance through increasing the amount of unconditional love we are able to express through our thoughts, feelings, perceptions, and actions.
We so fervently yearn to become what we were born to become even though that becoming is still something of a mystery. The implicit promise of letting Unconditional Love guide our decision-making process is that whatever our future holds it will be more abundant and fulfilling than we can possibly imagine. This is why I am reluctant to impose some specific view on my future because I intuitively sense that any image I can create pales in comparison to the wonders that are already racing towards me.
Unconditional Love has a far greater appreciation of our spiritual potential than we do which is why I am content to surrender my view of the forms it will take and keep myself open to the possibilities that will emerge. All we can reasonably seek is the daily power and wisdom to consciously turn our attention towards the service of Unconditional Love so we become willing and able servants of whatever future Unconditional Love has in store for us.
What do you suppose your life would be like if you began to view yourself, others and the world beyond through the lens of unconditional love. That is through the kind of love that has no hidden agenda, no ulterior motives, no strings attached? Which has as its end goal the simple expansion of unconditional love, in all its multifariously wonderful modulations, into our life and the world beyond. We all impact the world every moment of our life. The question is what is the nature of our impact? Is it governed by the perception that we are separate and different or that we are interconnected and share the same fundamental yearnings for love, security, connection, validation and meaning? And how would our relationship with self and others change if we consciously chose to extend unconditional love, to the best of our ability, towards our self and everyone we encountered? Don’t take my word for it. Try it out and pay attention to what changes within you as you exchange the filter of difference and separation for the filter of interconnection and shared human yearnings.
May your journey, to the fulfillment of the life you came out of the universe to live, bring you the beauty, wonder and power that is your birthright as a spiritual being having a human experience.
